What Happened In London

Hello again! I know, I know I haven't blogged for ages and ages but believe me, I've been ridiculously busy! But anyway, I'm baaaack!

Every year at the beginning of August, me and my mother head to London for a few nights away (the real reason is for a hospital visit but, it's an excuse to shop and eat!) and it's fantastic! Usually we spend most of the time eating/ planning what to eat! This year was no exception!

Day 1&2

Usually to travel down to London we get the train as it's quick and simple but this year we decided on the bus, which made most of day 1 a travelling day (5 hours Liverpool to London). I have to say it was a very long day on the coach but, National Express coaches are really comfortable and air conditioned so it was quite a comfortable journey, just very very long! As a tradition on our first night in London every year we go to the same Chinese restaurant, Weng Wah House in Belsize Park which is conveniently opposite our hotel. Unfortunately I was far too tired from the journey to take any pictures but, as usual, the food was great!

Day 2 started with a very early rise for our hospital visit at the Amyloidosis Centre at UCL. At this point I should mention, I have a very rare illness so every year we have to go and visit my specialist in London and this year I was put onto daily subcutaneous injections, which suck... but I won't let it get me down! :)
So, after our hospital visit we decided to head into central London for some lunch. After seeing / hearing such good things about Shake Shack in Covent Garden, we decided to try it! We ordered two smoke shack burgers, fries, a glass of wine and one of their own lemonades. The meal came to just over £20, which wasn't too bad at all! The burgers were really good quality and fresh with really tasty toppings. The best thing about the meal, I think, were the fries! They were sooooo good! I'm usually a skinny fry kind of girl but, these were gorgeous! Really crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle! I had heard that we could be up for a long wait for our burgers but we must have caught it on a good day. We went on a Thursday at about 12 and only had to wait about 15 minutes all together! Definitely worth the wait!
After Shake Shack we decided to do a bit (a lot) of shopping where I picked up this lovely outfit! I must admit that every part of it is from Primark! Strange that in all of London it was still the only shop I found anything I wanted to wear! After shopping we headed back to the hotel to freshen up, then we went to see The Bodyguard musical. Once again I was very bad and didn't take a single picture! The show was good, not the best I've seen but was a great way the spend an evening!
Afterwards we were absolutely starving so we headed back out to find some good food! To our surprise, we found that Wahaca was still open so we headed there!

As you can see, when me & my mutti eat out, we can't just order one thing. I love love love Wahaca! If you've never heard of it before it's a small chain of Mexican Street Food restaurants founded by Thomasina Miers. The food is always fresh, quick and so tasty. Every time we go to London we have to visit Wahaca! We ordered the Wahaca selection which was £19.95. In the selection you get, 3 pork pibil tacos, 1 large broad bean quesadilla, 3 chicken tinga tacos, 2 black bean tostadas, 2 new potato taquitos and Wahaca slaw. With this, we also ordered grilled corn, salsa and guacamole. To drink, I had a hibiscus mojito and my mutti had a Wahaca Mule. I cannot fault any part of our meal. Honestly. Even at 11 o'clock our food was freshly cooked, came to our table within minutes of ordering and was so tasty. The only part I didn't like was the tostada as I'm not keen on coriander but that was just personal preference. The total for the whole meal was roughly £40 which I think is absolutely great value! The atmosphere in the restaurant was really good too! It's a really great place to visit in London if you love your Mexican food.

I'll leave the post here for now, I still have lots of London stuff to blog about but I'll save it for another day!

Thanks for reading!
